Old Kempton Distillery, located in the picturesque region of Freycinet & East Coast, Tasmania, offers a unique whisky tasting experience that showcases their exceptional range of spirits. Housed in the historic Dysart House, the distillery has been producing high-quality single malt whisky, gin, liqueurs, and special releases using 100% Tasmanian ingredients since November 2015.
Your tour begins with an introduction to Dysart House''s history and the distillation process, followed by a behind-the-scenes visit to their distillery and bond store. The bond store is home to maturing whisky and barrels of various shapes and sizes, and as you explore, you may even hear some ghost stories that are part of the house''s rich history. Each tour is unique, providing a rare opportunity to see how a distillery operates on a day-to-day basis.
After the tour, you can relax in the stunning Cask Lounge, located in the Old Kempton cellar door, where your tour concludes with a guided tasting of four Old Kempton Distillery products. The distillery offers whisky tasting flights, allowing you to explore the nuances of their spirits. Their whisky tasting notes provide insight into the flavors and aromas that make each expression unique.
In addition to whisky tastings, Old Kempton Distillery offers whiskey tasting tours and whisky tasting events that showcase their exceptional range of spirits. Whether you prefer Scotch whisky or bourbon, you''re sure to find something to enjoy.
Lunch is available daily and highly recommended, with options including local Tasmanian produce antipasto platters, Devonshire tea, and daily specials. Cocktails, coffee, and other tastings are also available through the café, which is open from 10 am to 4 pm daily.
